फैश-पी एक ऐसा कार्यक्रम है जिसकी जनता सबसे ज़्यादा इंतज़ार में रहती है | और इस इंतज़ार को सही अंजाम तक पहुंचाते हैं वो तमाम प्रतिभागी जो इसमें हिस्सा लेते हैं |
फैश-पी शाम 6 बजे शुरू हुआ और इसमें करीब 7 टीमों ने हिस्सा लिया | लोगों में इस कार्यक्रम के लिए उत्साह देखते ही बनता था | सब अपने-अपने कॉलेज का हौसला-अफजाई करने के लिए ज़ोर-ज़ोर से नारे लगा रहे थे | लेकिन किसी भी चीज़ के दायरे को पार करने के बाद वो चीज़ हर एक के लिए ख़राब हो जाती है | कार्यक्रम बिल्कुल सुगम चल रहा था पर बीच ही में कुछ छात्रों ने अपने कॉलेज के लिए नारे लगाने शुरू किए जिसपे बाकी लोगों ने साथ मिलकर विरोध में नारे लगाए | अगर यह बात कार्यक्रम के बीच में ना हो कर बाद में होती तो शायद ज़्यादा बुरी बात ना होती | इससे प्रतिभागी भी अपनी प्रस्तुति देते वक्त ध्यान से बंट जाता है जो कि सभी पढ़े-लिखे युवाओं को समझना चाहिए |
खैर इन सब बातों के बीच भी फैश-पी अच्छी तरह संपन्न हुआ | जनता की राय लें तो पिछले बार के मुकाबले इस बार फैश-पी काफ़ी फीका रहा |
फ़िर भी हम सभी प्रतिभागियों के अथक प्रयास के लिए बधाई और धन्यवाद देना चाहते हैं |

कोरीओ
कोरीओ को बारे में आपको जानकारी दे दें की यह एक ऐसा नृत्य इवेंट है जिसमें शायद सभी टीमें सबसे ज़्यादा मेहनत करती है | इसमें टीमों को खुली छुट होती है कि आप अपना गाना चुनें और अपने तरह से नृत्य करें |
यह कार्यक्रम को हास्य कवि सम्मलेन के साथ अदला बदली कर दिया गया था क्योंकि श्री सुरेन्द्र जी और श्री शम्भू शिखर जी को आगे के कार्यक्रम के लिए जाना था | खैर जब यह कार्यक्रम के लिए हम ऑडी में पहुंचे तो लोगों ने गज़ब का स्वागत किया | चारों तरफ़ हवाई जहाज उड़ रहे थे [कागजों वाला] | शायद पूरी जनता ओएसिस के मुख्य अतिथि की बातों से प्रभावित हो गए थे | उन्होंने अपने स्वागत भाषण में बाते था कि उनके समय में ऐसा काफ़ी हुआ करता था |
तो इसके बाद एक से बढ़ कर एक कार्यक्रम शुरू हुए और सभी कॉलेजों ने ज़बरदस्त प्रदर्शन दिया | लोगों ने हर भावनाओं को अपने नृत्य के जरिये प्रस्तुत करने की कोशिश की और सफल भी रहे |
कुछ बचपन को, तो कुछ यौवन को अपने नृत्य के जरोये दर्शा रहे थे | बिट्स ने “रेन ऑफ़ टेरर” नाम से अपनी प्रस्तुति दी जिसमें 11 सितम्बर को केंद्रित करके नृत्य प्रस्तुति हुई | डांस क्लब की प्रस्तुति काफ़ी प्रशंसनीय रही |
पूरी तरह से कहें तो सभी के प्रदर्शन अच्छे रहे और सभी को हमारी तरफ़ से हार्दिक शुभकामनाएं |

राज़मटाज़
राज़मटाज़ - यह इवेंट के लिए बस जनता का एन्थु देखते ही बनता था | कोरीओ के बाद यह इवेंट सुबह 4:00 बजे शुरू हुआ और जनता की भीड़ पूरे ऑडी को घेरे हुए थी | खैर सभी इंतज़ार के बाद जब यह शुरू हुआ तो स्टेज पर कुल 6 टीमों ने हिस्सा लिया और अपनी प्रस्तुति दी | इसमें कुल 3 राउंड थे | पहले राउंड में अपनी प्रस्तुति देनी थी | दूसरे राउंड में गानों को बदला जा रहा था और प्रतिभागियों को गानों के अनुसार अपने नृत्य में परिवर्तन लाना था | इस राउंड में एक समय में कम से कम 3 लोगों को स्टेज पर रहना था | यह काफ़ी मजेदार रहा लेकिन 2 टीमों को इसमें काफ़ी मुश्किलों का सामना करना पड़ा | फ़िर भी इतने बड़े मंच पर उनका प्रयास काफ़ी सराहनीय रहा | तीसरे राउंड में सभी टीमों को 1-1 “प्रॉप्स” दिए गए जैसे की थाली, तकिया, लाठी, छाता, इत्यादि | इसमें प्रतियोगियों को अपने प्रॉप्स का इस्तेमाल करके किसी एक गाने पर नाचना था | सब कुछ वहीं स्टेज पर सोच कर उस पर नाचने पर निर्भर कर रहा था | दर्शकों ने इस राउंड का खूब आनंद उठाया और सभी टीमों ने इसमें काफ़ी अच्छी प्रस्तुति दी | कभी नांव तो कभी चापाकल बनाकर उन्होंने इस राउंड में अपनी रचनात्मकता को दर्शाया | राज़मटाज़ सुबह 6:15 पर ख़त्म हुआ |

In a fest with a multitude of film-music centered and “popular” dance events, Choreo was a long-awaited gasp of oxygen for afficiandos of pure dance (minus the jarring thumps and hackneyed moves that characterize crowd-pulling filmi dance). The overflowing audi and the restless anticipation of the crowd (reflected in their paper-plane –antics) bear testimony to the stature Choreo enjoys in Oasis. The six teams that survived the elims did their best to outdo each other in coordination, adherence to time-limits, and innovation in expression.

However it was the choice of themes and their conception that made some teams more memorable than the rest. Sri Venkateshwara got the event off to a brilliant start with “Resurrection”. The difficulty levels of their jumps and poses notwithstanding, the team evoked a spectrum of feelings, ranging from complete despair to absolute triumph over the inner devils.

 Gargi college, having to contend with being in the shadow of Venky’s superlative performance, managed to capture the audience’s attention from the first second. Kudos to them for their graceful execution, unique vision and for ensuring that every sequence, costume and move stayed true to a very carefully thought out theme.

While Hindu college and Indraprastha pulled off neat performances, their themes didn’t establish a powerful connection with the audience the way Hansraj’s “Tears of Ecstasy” did. Right from the beginning, it was evident that theirs would be the most outstanding performance of the night. Excellent choreography deserves only a part of the credit because the mere idea of illustrative creative journey through dance was enough. The dancers exercised a near-hypnotic hold over the audience and every eye was glued to their motions right till the very end, a climax that was genius indeed.

The hosts pulled off an intensely dramatic performance that astounded the audience only through the sense of fear and terror that they inspired. The powerful ending and the practiced execution made amends for completely unimaginative choreography and choice of theme. Stephen’s performance was an appropriately excellent finale for this mind- blowing event. “Schizophrenia” scored full marks for impact and for creative interpretation of the problem. The results for Choreo are awaited, but every finalist deserves praise for preparing extensively for an event that requires more thought and more grueling effort that most other dance events.

When the biggest quiz of the fest is scheduled at 12:30 p.m on the third day, you just can’t help a feeling of foreboding. Even relying on the customary delays from previous programs does not make the participation scene look very hopeful; waking up people who returned from Rocktaves at 9:30 in the morning and getting them to exercise their brain cells at noon requires above average effort and superhuman marketing skills.

For over an hour the only people in the audi were leftover audience from Aandholika and a trickle of groggy ELAS volunteers. The test of patience finally ended at 3 o’clock with the final seconds of the captivating sponsor-video coming to a close.

The prelims were a good mixture of trivia and intelligent guesses. They were a refreshing departure from overt popular culture references, with questions on history, literature, math and geography. The quizmaster Sumanth Srivathsan’s dry humour and dignified presence gave a different, slightly more serious, feel to the quiz, breaking away from the trend of the last few years’ more youthful ambience.

The eight teams that made it to the finals were more or less the usual suspects, with a few first-yearites and one team from BITS Goa to add a touch of variety.

The finals were no doubt tough, with many infinite bounce questions bouncing back to the quizmaster. There were three written rounds in the finals, all three very innovative. The first was identifying movies spoofed in a three-minute J.C.Penny advertisement, the second was identifying the references in 5 strips of the immensely popular xkcd webcomics, and the third – also the last round of the quiz – was a uniquely structured round in which a team gets to choose from a panel of 9 questions, and if they cannot answer it, all other teams get to write down the answer and get points.

Aravind, Vivek and Rachit secured a runaway victory while Thiru, King D and Navin were runners up.

All in all, it was a good quiz that would have pulled more crowds had it been better-timed. Perhaps we shall hear a different story next year – are the powers-that-be listening?

There are other dance shows, other Audi events, and then there is Razzmatazz. This event, organized by the Dance Club, has always been one of the biggest crowd-pullers of OASIS. This year was no different at all. Lack of proper scheduling (the event was scheduled to start at 00:00 on the 24^th but started a whopping 3.5 hours late!) did absolutely nothing to dampen the spirit of the crowds that thronged the Audi portico; the hysteria not unlike the one surrounding Prof shows. 

The initial round saw the colleges performing to a self-compiled medley of music. Each college did their very best on stage; surprisingly, many of the tracks overlapped, notable ones being the ‘Rain Dance’ track from ‘Step Up 2’ and several Hindi ‘item numbers’. The colleges were extremely well –prepared, extremely in-sync, and it was hard to sift out any potential winners from this round alone.

In the second round, things got tougher as the participating teams had to send at least 3 of their members onstage to spontaneously dance to a rapidly changing soundtrack. This was the ultimate decider of the show. What ultimately emerged from this round is that less may not always be more i.e. the teams that decided to play it safe and send the minimum of 3 members often ended up in deep trouble. Colleges like KNC and Miranda House were extremely well-prepared and gave memorable performances.

A new addition to the rich bouquet of events this Oasis, Bike Stunt attracted a huge crowd to the road in front of the institute. Enthusiastic viewers – which consisted of students and professors alike – were witness to a series of ‘stunts’ by a troupe of professional artists. These stunts mostly consisted of wheelies and the occasional standing-up-on-the-bike-and-doing-random-things stuff. The performance looked adequately dangerous and actually turned out to be so when a biker tried to execute a tricky stunt by rotating a bike at an extremely sharp angle. It so happened, the bike went off straight and hit one of the guys. It however did not create any fuss and the show continued with its never ending wheelies which became boring towards the end. Overall, the expectations were very high but they were not fulfilled.

Perhaps the last thing anyone would associate with Oasis is exams. However, after three hectic days of hustle and bustle, the only emotion that remains is cautious relief. Relief, with the knowledge there would be no more sleepless nights and impossible deadlines. Cautious, because you know the fest isn’t actually over yet. This is the exact same emotion that overwhelms you before the last exam in a test series. You know the fat lady hasn’t sung yet, but you can’t help looking forward to that long, lazy break, that’s just a handful of hours away. So what was day four like? As my memory loves to keep a last-in-first-out scheme, the Karaoke night is the first thing that comes to mind. A karaoke night is perfect for all those people who can sing along, but not actually sing (about 99.9% percent of the population, the last time we counted). While these newly reborn crooners end up having a really good time, the same cannot be said of all listeners in a 3 mile radius. The same was true of the Western Acoustic Jam on occasions, probably even more so. Dharohar, the India Quiz, seemed to bring out all the latent patriotism in some people; scenes of fiery chest-beating and back-slapping were remarkably common, and remarkably amusing to everyone watching. Unfortunately, no one seemed to have a mobile phone camera when it was needed the most. Another visit to C-Lawns (cannot avoid it, we need food), and the music (?) seemed to get louder and more painful. It wasn’t all bad though, some outstation participants actually came to us to praise the organization and the security in the fest.
